Our Tribute to HKST Webmaster Mr. Kenny Liu

A heart transplant patient who helped lay the foundations for the Hong Kong Society of Transplantation website, and continued maintaining the web page, has died. He was 38.

Liu Chi Kin Kenny died on 16 January 2018. He received a heart transplant at the age of 19 when he suffered from myocarditis, and the heart lived with him for another 19 years.

Despite his illness and subsequent requirement of dialysis, Kenny remained active in helping our Society. He took up the role as the webmaster for the Hong Kong Society of Transplantation since 2009. During these nine years, he helped to improve the layout and format of our webpage. Every time I sent him an update for our web, I registered a jolt of energy. He finished the task on the same day of hearing from us. Little did we know that he had suffered from serious malignancy until he mentioned to us that he’d better prepare a manual for the web maintenance (in case of his leaving us).

All of us have a very high regard for him. He didn’t simply leave us. He was leaving a legacy for the Hong Kong Society of Transplantation.

Dr. KM Chow, Vice President, HKST

Not only will Kenny’s mum miss him, our Society will remember his passion to transplantation.
